2021 Magellan
By diligently employing strategic yield reductions and advanced vineyard technologies, Inwood produces a widely contrasting lineup of Cabernet Sauvignon wines, ranging from the Magellan, the least-ripe but longest-aging Pauillac style, to the Mericana, the ripest and earliest drinking Napa style. Although Magellan was Inwood’s first Bordeaux blend, designed to replicate the truest character of Bordeaux wines, this big, brawny style has become our rarest. As our least-ripe Cabernet style, Magellan is the product of a slightly earlier harvest than other Inwood Cabernets, capturing extraordinary tannic values and high anti-oxidants that can lay down for many years to reveal the fullest expression of its intrinsic treasure. With a nose of cassis and wild violets, expect big velvety tannins integrated with tight structure, unearthing a deep core of black cherry, plum, and black currant and a firm finish. We recommend a minimum of 10 years cellaring from the vintage date (or 2027) for optimal experience.
