Oentrepid "C" 2017

Our Oentrepid wines represent our line up of ripe Cabernet blends with tasting profiles similar to Napa Cabernets. These blends comprise multiple clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, each specially selected by our lead winemaker for preferred phenolic and aromatic characteristics and then individually precision-farmed at low yields in Gillespie County, Texas, under the watchful eye of our winemakers, to maximize the desired attributes. The clones are harvested and vinified separately, with individual clones harvesting up to 6 weeks apart. Our winemakers then artfully assemble the components into custom blends to achieve a heightened tasting profile that feels more “complete” than any of the singular varietals standing alone.

Oentrepid C is a Napa-inspired blend featuring four different genetic strains of Cabernet Sauvignon. This 4-clone blend targets Napa purists who prefer the leaner styling of the traditional Cabernets that made Napa famous. Versus the Chateau Marie series, our Oentrepids feature lower antioxidant levels that allow them to reach optimum drinkability sooner. The Oentrepid C has slightly higher antioxidants than Oentrepid X, which we anticipate optimum development between 2022 and 2024, after which, the wine will continue to drink well but should not improve significantly more.
